Today we spent a bit of time shopping around and going to the Summer Palace. This palace is high on a hill top and we had to hike up a number of stairs to get to the top. Then we had to traverse down the the other side of the hill where we came to the lake.
Here are some of the views looking out the backside of the summer palace.
The hike to get to that point was up a bunch of mountain trails and tunnel stairways. Then once we made it to the top we took a break and got our selves something to drink.
While we sat we watched a guy taking strips of bamboo and braiding them into little critters!
It was fun to watch him put these things together.
Here are just a few things that he had made.
We now descended down to the lake and again it was steep hillside paths that we took to get to the bottom. The paths were covered with a number of blooming trees, it was a good time to be here to see them all in bloom.
I am always challenged by Mengchen to make a new pose for the pictures. I really thought I had something with my Head on a Spire pose.. But instead I was threatened to be thrown into the water which resulted in my "Hold on for dear life pose!"
We then rented an electric boat and motored around the lake for a little while. Captin Mengchen at the wheel of the boat put the pirates on the dragon boat on notice and the swiftly left the area where we were at!
So now that the pirates are gone, Mengchen does her best reverse Titanic pose on the front of the boat!
